Green Travel Plan

The idea is that whilst we feel our staff are blessed to work here too, they too may need a helping hand getting here if the car breaks down, if the weather is too rough, if they rely on public transport or basically they just don’t like driving. Well, we thought, like we do elsewhere, why not put on a service to collect staff from home and when we drop them at Lavender Fields, we can pick staff up ready to go home and so on throughout the 24 hours, based on shift patterns. Great idea and it does work for us elsewhere for sure. Then we thought, well what about instead of paying for taxis to do this, why not have some drivers full time to keep themselves busy in between! The day passes quicker when you’re busy we thought!

Therefore, it seems to us that as a matter of course and free of charge, we can drop our residents off in the busy market town of Pocklington, the pretty little village of Barmby Moor and other local places of interest (there are plenty within 5 miles). We have no doubt that this will mushroom out into further afield for organised trips to such as Castle Howard, Yorkshire Lavender and indeed a whole host of other venues that may need a little more structure and a small charge, but well worth it for sure!

We will run the service from around 8am during daylight hours and see how this evolves, as we are a new community and things will adapt and change based on needs and wants, but this is the idea anyway. The runs to and from places of interest within say 5 miles will be sacrosanct, as are the staff runs, as we know this will work. The further afield things will develop and evolve over time, but the intention is to create and build on a plethora of locations of interest within reasonable distance for a small charge. Like the sound of that? We thought you would!
